Metro standards are built around the habits and characteristics that contribute to long-term success both on and off the court.
Through coaching, accountability, and daily team environments, players are taught to develop positive attitude, consistent effort, teamwork, discipline, professionalism, and accountability both as athletes and teammates.
As physical maturity accelerates at this age, players begin preparing within a true high school-style basketball environment that demands increased discipline, toughness, accountability, and consistency both on and off the court.
During the Fall season, player development becomes increasingly individualized, with added focus on helping players understand and develop the positions and roles they are most likely to play within their high school programs.
Players are expected to embrace demanding coaching, compete consistently, respond positively to adversity, and develop the discipline and habits necessary for high-level basketball environments.
Sports performance training becomes a major component of development at this age level, with heavy emphasis on strength training alongside continued development in speed, agility, conditioning, mobility, and overall athletic performance. Many players at this age begin competing against older and physically mature varsity-level athletes, making physical development an essential part of long-term success.
Every player participating in the program will be invited to return each season whether in Metro or on an Elite Team with benefits of the Academy as well.
For new players, evaluations are held upon request. Please contact coachjay@basketballstars.com to arrange an evaluation.
