10th Grade Development Pathway

High School Academy Standards

Metro standards are built around the habits and characteristics that contribute to long-term success both on and off the court.

Through coaching, accountability, and daily team environments, players are taught to develop positive attitude, consistent effort, teamwork, discipline, professionalism, and accountability both as athletes and teammates.

10th Grade Focus

Player Development Pathway
At the 10th grade level, there is increased emphasis on preparing players for the realities and expectations of high-level varsity basketball and the early stages of the college basketball process.

During this stage of development, team practices replicate many of the concepts, pace, and structure commonly seen within successful high school and college basketball practices.

Competition also becomes more advanced, with players regularly competing against other high-level athletes preparing for collegiate basketball opportunities.

In addition to on-court development, Metro Academy begins introducing players and families to the college basketball landscape through carefully organized university experiences. Players may participate in campus visits, exposure events with college coaches, college practices and workouts, and guided tours designed to provide firsthand insight into college basketball, student-athlete expectations, and academic campus life.

Players are expected to embrace demanding coaching, compete consistently, respond positively to adversity, and continue developing the discipline, maturity, and habits necessary for advanced basketball environments.

Sports Performance Training

Sports performance training continues playing a major role in development, with strong emphasis on strength training, athletic performance, conditioning, mobility, injury prevention, and preparing players for the increasing physical demands of high-level basketball.

Team Formation

Metro Academy Entry Process
While we are firm believers at Metro Academy in developing our players rather than constantly searching for new ones, we continue to recruit players to ensure that those who desire to play in college will have a team that supports that vision.

Every player participating in the program will be invited to return each season whether in Metro or on an Elite Team with benefits of the Academy as well.

For new players, evaluations are held upon request. Please contact coachjay@basketballstars.com to arrange an evaluation.
